Wolf One Management Inc. was fined a total of $22,500 after pleading guilty to three counts under the Environmental Protection Act (EPA).
The court heard at the time of the offences Wolf One Management Inc. operated a waste transfer station in the City of Vaughan under the name of Complete Disposal Services Ltd. The waste site is authorized through a Provisional Certificate of Approval for the processing of non-hazardous, solid, commercial and industrial wastes. The certificate requires that all waste be processed indoors in an enclosed building equipped with a functional odour control system. On three separate occasions, between September 2003 and January 2004, the Ministry of the Environment conducted site inspections and found that wastes were being processed outdoors contrary to ministry requirements. The corporation was charged accordingly.
On August 8, 2005, the corporation pleaded guilty to three counts of failing to comply with a condition of a Certificate of Approval contrary to Section 186(3) of the EPA. The corporation was fined $7,500 on each count for a total of $22,500 in fines plus a victim fine surcharge.
