On August 9, 2002, Donald Marriott, a waste collector for Enviro-Care Services in the Halifax Regional Municipality of Nova Scotia was killed when he fell beneath the wheels of a moving garbage truck. According to reports, he was walking alongside the truck and either slipped or fell under its wheels. Police and the provincial labour department are investigating the incident.
