Vaughan waste site operators charged

10 Waste Limited, 2020700 Ontario Inc., Rail Cycle Incorporated, 2020780 Ontario Limited, Mr. Edmon Hanna, Mr. Robert Sansone, and Mr. Guido Titton have been charged with one count each under Ontario’s Environmental Protection Act (EPA).

310 Waste Limited operated a waste disposal site on Keele Street in the City of Vaughan, Ontario where industrial and commercial waste was processed and transferred. On October 13, 2004, Ministry of the Environment staff
attended at the waste disposal site in response to a fire that had broken out on October 12, 2004. The fire resulted in smoke and odours emanating from the site.

Following an investigation by the Ministry of the Environment’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch, 310 Waste Limited, 2020700 Ontario Inc., Rail Cycle Incorporated, 2020780 Ontario Limited, and three individuals have been charged with causing or permitting the discharge of a contaminant, namely smoke and odours, into the natural environment that caused an adverse
effect.

The first court appearance will be at the Ontario Court of Justice in Richmond Hill, Ontario on March 7, 2005.
