RecycleBank, a rewards program that motivates people to recycle, has announced that several waste haulers, including George Leck and Son Waste Removal and Opdenaker Trash Removal, have recently joined RecycleBank in its mission to motivate households to recycle and eliminate waste from landfills.
RecycleBank motivates households and communities to recycle by rewarding each household for the amount they’ve recycled. RecycleBank measures the amount of material recycled and then converts it into RecycleBank Points that can be used at hundreds of national RecycleBank Reward Partners like Bed, Bath and Beyond, Starbucks Coffee and IKEA as well as local reward partners like grocery stores and restaurants.
By motivating households to recycle, waste haulers are able to collect more recyclables and reduce waste that was destined for landfill. This saves money on landfill tipping fees, which are a large expense for waste haulers and municipalities. In addition, waste haulers are faced with a hyper-competitive market. RecycleBank provides the opportunity for a waste hauler to offer a differentiated and value added service to households and municipalities.
Haulers like Pennsylvania-based George Leck and Son and Opdenaker Trash Removal have teamed up with RecycleBank to help lower waste disposal costs for the municipalities they service and be recognized as environmental leaders in their community.
Currently, RecycleBank services thousand of homes on the American East Coast and plans a U.S. rollout in 2008. By recycling, those households collectively have saved almost 13 million gallons of oil and nearly 200,000 trees. Additionally, they have helped waste haulers and cities divert tons of material from landfills and save millions of dollars in landfill fees.
