According to the Composting Council of Canada, the City of Toronto intends to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for processing capacity for its Source Separated Organics (SSO) and Leaf and Yard Material (L&YM). The city is soliciting processing services at publicly or privately owned facilities located in Ontario for a five year term, with the possibility of two-one year extensions.

The city intends to award contracts to multiple proponents for up to 50,000 tonnes of source separated organics and up to 50,000 tonnes leaf and yard material. Proponents may bid on SSO and L&YM separately or together. Proponents offering processing at facilities located more than 160 km one-way straight-line distance from the intersection of highways 400 and 401 must also offer haulage services from the city’s transfer stations.
