On the weekend the City of Toronto reached a tentative deal with the union that represents garbage workers, thereby avoiding a strike.

If ratified, the deal means the city will continue to have the services of its outside workers, including garbage collectors, paramedics and pool maintenance workers, for the next four years.

The two sides negotiated for almost 72 hours straight before the agreement was reached.
