The Waxman/Markey bill was passed by the House of Representatives on Friday, June 26, 2009. Since then, The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has organized an e-session specifically on this topic to help you understand this important bill and what it means for you.

The American Clean Energy & Security Act: How Will the Solid Waste Sector Be Affected?

On Friday June 26, 2009, the U.S. House Of Representatives passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, HR 2454 (the Waxman/Markey bill) by a vote of 219 to 212. On July 16, 2009, SWANA will host a special e-Session that will discuss the final bill that passed the House, focusing on how it would affect solid waste facilities and operations. The e-Session will review the provisions of the bill of significance to solid waste agencies, as well as the prospects for a companion bill soon to be under consideration in the U.S. Senate.
