The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) BC Chapter is presenting a focus event on February 18, 2005:

"Disaster Debris Management — Considerations for Developing a Plan for your Community"

DATE: Friday, February 18, 2005

TIME: 10:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m. (registration and coffee starts at 9:30 am)

LOCATION: Delta Town and Country Inn, Delta, BC

You know you should be planning for emergencies. But are you? In the area of solid waste management in BC, many lessons were learned in the aftermath of the fires and floods that affected some of our communities in the past several years. This focus event will provide insights to help any community plan for effective disaster debris management.

The day will feature speakers with hands-on experience in operations and planning, and will have facilitated question and answer sessions. The presentations will be augmented by a working luncheon and facilitated question and answer periods. Those interested in touring the City of Vancouver Landfill will have an opportunity to do so at the close of the session.
