SWANA is pleased to announce the winners of its 2004 Excellence Awards. SWANA’s Excellence in Solid Waste Management Program was created to acknowledge outstanding programs that are committed to the “environmentally and economically sound management of solid waste.” Facilities are nominated based on the above criteria, and this year’s winners will be recognized at a luncheon at WASTECON 2004, on September 23 in Phoenix, Arizona.

"These organizations advance SWANA’s mission to advance the practice of economically and environmentally sound municipal solid waste management," said John Skinner, Ph.D., SWANA Executive Director and CEO. "They have truly worked to encourage the principles of responsible solid waste management throughout their ranks, and we are proud to be able to recognize their achievements."

The winners in 11 categories are as follows:
