Our latest online Speaker’s Corner asked readers about the results of the recent federal election and what they think it means for the environment.

The results were as follows.

In answer to the question, “Do you think election of the Harper government will affect environmental protection issues?” 66.7% answered “positively” while an equal number (16.7%) said “negatively” or “about the same as the last government.”

In answer to the question, “Do you agree with Harpers election pledge to get Canada out of the Kyoto climate change accord?” opinion was divided 50/50.

Asked, “Would you like to see the new government expand the federal government’s role in waste management issues?” 66.7% answered “yes” and 33.3% answered no.
