In an agreement with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Republic Services has agreed to make changes at the company’s Countywide Landfill in Pike Township, Ohio. The company will pay more than $1 million in fines and will close part of the facility. The landfill has been the subject of odor complaints and a possible underground fire. A portion of the fine will be set aside in a community benefit fund.
