The Recycling Council of Ontario and municipal host the Region of Peel invite you to attend the RCO’s 25th Annual Conference and Golf Tournament.

DATE: May 4, 5 and 6, 2005

LOCATION: Holiday Inn Select (Toronto Airport) and Royal Woodbine Golf Club

Make your voice heard! Ontario’s waste management debate has reached a critical juncture for every stakeholder. Diminished landfill capacity, coupled with provincial goals of 60 per cent waste diversion has escalated the issues of focus, responsibility and economics to the top of the priority list. The true costs of the Blue Box Program have caused questions of effectiveness of Ontario’s curbside recycling. In this new ERA of Extended Producer Responsibility, will Ontario demonstrate leadership, ensuring creative program designs that welcome competition and achieve environmental results?

Featuring renowned keynote speaker Dr. Thomas Lindhqvist, Ph.D. — associate professor at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at Lund University in Sweden. Dr. Lindhqvist is known as the "Father of EPR," having first coined the phrase Extended Producer Responsibility in 1984.

Dr. Lindhqvist will present his evaluative tool for use in quantifying EPR principles in product stewardship in Ontario and other jurisdictions.

Conference Session Panel Debates:

Effective EPR Programs
New options for Ontario’s Blue Box
Fees Visible and Hidden
Litter Designating it under WDA
