Four time World Champion Pittsburgh Steeler Rocky Bleier will address WASTECON attendees at 9:30am on Wednesday, September 22.
Before becoming a Super Bowl hero, Bleier overcame many obstacles. Immediately following his draft to the NFL, Bleier was drafted into the US Army in December of 1968, seemingly ending his football career before it had a chance to begin. After sustaining massive injuries to his legs during an ambush of rifle fire and grenades in Vietnam, doctors told Bleier he would never walk again. Two years of self-motivation and drive allowed Bleier not only to walk, but to become a starting running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers once again.
President of Rocky Bleier, Inc. since 1980 and author of the book Fighting Back, Bleier now is a highly demanded motivational speaker across the United States. Bleier tells his audiences, "If you believe you can, you can."
SWANA Executive Director and CEO John H. Skinner, Ph.D., is proud to welcome Rocky Bleier to WASTECON 2004.
"Bleier’s accomplishments are truly amazing, and we at SWANA are honored to have him as our WASTECON 2004 keynote speaker. His football career and life stories are sure to create a message that will resonate with everyone in Phoenix."
