The Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA) is participating in the Environmental Assessment Review Advisory Panel recently announced by Ontario’s Minister of the Environment Leona Dombrowsky.
OWMA, as a representative of Ontario’s private sector waste management industry, is participating in the panel’s work to develop an Environmental Assessment Approval Process that will maximize environmental protection and facilitate investment in much needed waste disposal capacity in the province.
The OWMA representative on the advisory panel is Mr. Nigel Guilford, senior vice president, environmental affairs and angineering, with Capital Environmental Resource Inc. and current OWMA President. Mr. Guilford has extensive knowledge and experience relative to environmental assessment approval processes in Ontario and other jurisdictions.
OWMA has established an internal advisory group of environmental assessment and waste industry experts to support OWMA’s contribution to this critical initiative.
"It’s vital that we develop the capacity to manage Ontario’s waste inside Ontario and reduce our reliance on other jurisdictions for our waste disposal needs," stated Mr. Guilford.
