The Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA) recently submitted a letter in regard to the Clean Water Act, 2005 posting on the Ontario Bill of Rights. OWMA’s comments are in addition to (and in
support of) previous submissions on the provincial envirobnment ministry’s White Paper on Watershed
Based Source Protection Planning. The OWMA comments focus on waste industry specific issues and the implementation challenges.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce has recently adopted a co-sponsored resolution on the waste management crisis prepared by the Brampton Board of Trade and the Toronto Board of Trade. The resolution reinforces the primary concerns and objectives of OWMA and represents a strong position from Ontario’s business community and IC & I waste generators. Theapproved resolution and policy will now become integral to the Chamber of Commerce advocacy efforts. OWMA welcomes the increased awareness andactions being considered by Ontario’s waste generators.
