The Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA) is organizing a tour of energy-from-waste (EFW) facilities on Tuesday, July 17, 2007.

EFW is increasingly recognized in Ontario as an important part of an integrated waste management system. EFW projects are under active consideration by municipalities and the private sector for residual waste management and there is a renewed interest in waste-derived-fuels and landfill gas utilization. OWMA has planned an informative and timely facility tour of energy from waste facilities currently in operation in southern Ontario and New York state.

Join with public and private sector waste managers for a one day tour but act today…space is limited!

The itinerary is as follows:

8:00 a.m. Start (OWMA Brampton Office)

Algonquin Power Facility visit

Walker Environmental Services visit

12:00 noon Lunch (Courtesy of Covanta Energy Niagara)

Covanta Energy Niagara visit

5:00 p.m. Finish (OWMA Brampton Office)

Cost is $169.60 ($160.00 + 9.60 GST) and includes bus transportation, lunch, refreshments, parking and facility information package.

Space is limited to 40 registrants on a first-come basis. Everyone is reminded to wear safety shoes and bring hard hats, safety glasses and documentation for border crossing.
