The next Environmental Business Opportunity Breakfast held by the Ontario Environment Industry Association (ONIEA) will focus on waste management issues.

“Keeping Toronto Fit – Watching its Waste Line” will be presented on Thursday, September 30 and features guest speaker Angelos Bacopoulis, General Manager, Solid Waste Management Services Division of Toronto Works & Emergency Services.

The event will be held at the Lionhead Golf & Country Club in Mississauga (8525 Mississauga Road).

The theme of the presentation is described as follows:

“With a population of 2.5 million, a budget of one quarter of a billion > dollars involving some 1,700 staff and contractors, and growing pressure to not export its garbage, the City of Toronto is stressed to find effective
and efficient ways to meet the mandated 60 per cent waste diversion and ‘no waste’ targets by 2006 and 2010, respectively. Hear how the City intends to develop
and utilize new and emerging technologies for the collection, disposal and treatment of solid wastes. Also hear how business is being asked to collaborate in bringing market solutions to this critically important and
controversial municipal issue.”
