HALIFAX, NS-Nova Scotia marked National Waste Reduction Week by announcing the recovery of its billionth beverage container for recycling. Derek Firth, chief operating officer of the Resource Recovery Fund Board, said the billionth container arrived at the Aylesford enviro-depot (one of 87 such depots throughout the province) on September 4. The recycling network ran a Billionth Beverage Container promotion, featuring prize draws, during the first half of September to encourage the recovery of the billionth glass, plastic or aluminum beverage container for recycling.
