The “Noncommercial Computer Refurbishers Conference (NCRS) ’04 -Setting Standards To Advance the Field” will be held September 17 & 18, 2004 at the University of Chicago, Gleacher Center (450 N. Cityfront Plaza Dr. Chicago, IL). The event is sponsored by CompuMentor (www.compumentor.org) and Computers for Schools (www.pcsforschools.org).
NCRS ’04 is the conference for the noncommercial computer refurbishing community. This year’s summit will give nonprofit computer recyclers and refurbishers from the U.S. and Canada the opportunity to discuss and adopt a set of voluntary standards for noncommercial refurbishing programs. These standards will address crucial elements such as warranty, fail rate, disposal, and data removal for refurbished computers. Establishing these guidelines is critical for the field to grow and prosper. It will help noncommercial computer refurbishers foster confidence in their products and gain support from both end-users and from corporate donors.
In addition, NCRS 04 offers:
Eight break-out sessions led by accomplished presenters on trends and issues, best practices and the latest research results;
Ample opportunities to network with your peers and industry experts;
A technology faire that showcases new ideas and cutting-edge solutions for the field.
The price to attend is $400.
