Michael Cant, Sr. Solid Waste Planner, Ontario Region Waste Sector Leader, Golder Associates Inc.

The proposed Landfill Gas Collection and Control Regulation was introduced by the Ontario Government on August 9, 2007. The governments stated purpose for this regulation is to reduce landfill gas emissions to the atmosphere to help meet Ontarios greenhouse gas reduction targets. It believes reducing landfill gas emissions will also reduce the emission of trace compounds in landfill gas that may cause odor or affect local air quality.

Attend to get both the regulator and non-regulator perspective of this proposed regulation. Larry Wilcox from the Ministry of the Environment will clarify the content of the proposed regulation. Michael will provide a non-regulator perspective as he explains what carbon trading is and the potential affects of this proposed regulation on greenhouse gas or carbon credits trading in Ontario. Both Larry and Michael will be available to answer questions.

Participants will:

— Gain familiarity with the proposed Ontario Landfill Gas Collection and Control Regulation specifications;

— Learn how this regulation might affect GHG credit market potential in Ontario;

— Determine the impact on your municipality or organization of the regulation;

— Gain an informed global overview of what’s happening with carbon credit trading.
