Dr. Jeffrey Morris, with Sound Resource Management (Seattle, WA), will deliver a keynote address on February 7, 2005 at SWANA’s Winter Technical Symposium in West Palm Beach, Florida. Morris will share his recent and surprising findings on energy conservation and pollution prevention from diversion efforts that refute common myths about recycling and that support more aggressive but sustainable approaches to waste diversion.
John H. Skinner, PhD., SWANA’s Executive Director and CEO, commented, "We are delighted to have Dr. Morris speak at our event; his presentation will be a welcome addition to the ongoing discussion on how to best increase waste diversion rates. I also appreciate the contribution Dr. Morris has made to our Recycling Incentive Alliance as they work to develop legislation that would create a financial incentive for communities to recycle."
Part of the annual Winter Technical Symposium, the Waste Reduction, Recycling & Composting Symposium gives attendees insight into all aspects of diversion from procurement vagaries to the success of mandatory programs. This year, the event will feature new market dynamics, the myths and magic of corporate recycling, and an interactive public outreach session, as well as several training and certification courses.
