The City of Hamilton is interested in receiving proposals for the provision of curbside/roadside collection services and multi-unit bin collection services for eligible units within the city.

The successful proponent shall perform such services as are required but not limited to, provide a complete collection system, and shall provide, at its own expense, all and every kind of labour, vehicles, tools, equipment, articles and items necessary for the due execution of the work set out.

Mandatory Proponents’ Meeting:

A Mandatory Proponents’ Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 10:00 a.m., at Stoney Creek Town Hall, Council Chambers, 777 Highway No. 8, Stoney Creek. Proposals from Proponents not attending this mandatory meeting will be rejected.

DOCUMENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP ON TUESDAY, MARCH 1, 2005

Request for Proposal documents must be obtained from the Purchasing Section, 9th Floor, 120 King Street West, Hamilton, ON between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. FREE OF CHARGE.

If unable to attend in person to obtain the Request for Proposals documents, you must arrange to forward your completed return courier waybill, including your account number with the courier, and envelope; and have the courier pick up on your behalf. The Purchasing Section must be contacted at telephone number (905) 546-2773 and informed of these arrangements so that staff may prepare the package for pickup by courier. Documents will not be sent out by collect shipment by courier.

For Curbside/Roadside (C/R) Collection of the following materials within one or more of Collection Zones, B1, B2 and B3:

Weekly Garbage Collection, with a phased-in one container limit, to be delivered to a City Transfer Station;

Weekly Organics Waste Collection, semi-automatic or automatic collection in rolling carts, to be delivered to the City’s Central Composting Facility (CCF);

Seasonal Leaf and Yard Waste Collection in spring and fall to be delivered to a City Transfer Station;

Christmas Tree Collection during a two-week period in January each year, to be delivered to a City Transfer Station or to a location specified by the Contract Administrator;

Call-in Bulk Waste Collection Services for C/R customers during times when Leaf and Yard Waste is not being collected. Bulk waste is to be delivered to a City Transfer Station; and

Call-in Bulk Waste Collection from vertically-stacked Multi-Residential Buildings to be delivered to a City Transfer Station

For Multi-Unit Bin Collection services for Eligible Units within the entire City:

Collection of Bin Garbage from participating Eligible Units including Multi-Residential Building, Municipally-owned Facilities, Commercial Units, and Special Policy Areas;

Depositing the Bin Garbage from the Eligible Units at the City Transfer Stations; and

Respond to service requests received by the City of Hamilton

Sealed Proposals plus nine (9) copies, addressed to the City’s Purchasing Manager, Standard Life Building, 120 King Street West, 9th Floor, Suite 900, Hamilton, ON, L8P 4V2 will be received at only the Purchasing Section’s office up to and including FOUR o’clock p.m., Hamilton, Local Time, Wednesday, March 30, 2005 for the above.
