Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) have announced that they participated in and hosted several events in the TD Canada Trust Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup — a national conservation initiative that runs across Canada. In 2006, participants across the country removed 84,708 kgs of litter in one week, making a positive impact on their local environment.
TRCA invited local residents, school groups, community groups, families, and concerned individuals to be a part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, an activity that has a measurable effect on the environment, both locally and globally. Cleanups are more than just collecting trash, they are examples of communities working together to create solutions that ensure Ontarios waterways are kept clean.
More than 45,000 volunteers made a difference by cleaning up shorelines across Canada as part of the TD Canada Trust Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.
