Municipal leaders from across Canada will meet in Ottawa Feb. 4-7 at FCM’s Sustainable Communities National Conference and Trade Show.

More than 600 participants will discuss best practices in community projects and exchange advice on how to create sustainable communities. In doing so, they will build on the vast amount of innovation and initiative they are using in the environmental, economic and social spheres of their communities.

The conference will also focus on the proposed municipal New Deal, with its emphasis on finding new ways for governments to work together to build sustainable communities.

Speakers include: Dr. David Suzuki; Dr. Karl-Henrik Robert of the Natural Step; the Honourable David Anderson, Minister of the Environment; Jack Layton, Federal NDP Leader; the Honourable John Godfrey, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister with special emphasis on cities; Michael Harcourt, Chair of the special Privy Council Office committee on cities; and the Honourable Andy Scott, Minister of State Infrastructure).
