Alberta Emerald Foundation, Edmonton — Are you ready for a rewarding challenge? Do you believe that positive messages change how people act and feel about the environment around them?

The Alberta Emerald Foundation’s mission is to enhance environmental awareness and celebrate environmental excellence in Alberta. AEF is seeking a full-time Executive Director to fill an evolving role that requires demonstrated skill and experience in program planning, event and organizational management, media relations and communication, and donor development. The Executive Director is supported by one administrative support position, volunteers, essential consultant expertise, intern(s) and a committed volunteer Board of Directors.

The Alberta Emerald Foundation is committed to enhanced effort to raise public and media awareness of the importance of Emerald Awards nominees, finalists and recipients. We are engaged in developing a Youth program focused on environmental excellence, and in carrying our message to all sectors and regions of Alberta. In 2007, the Foundation established a permanent office located in Edmonton, introduced QuickBooks accounting structures, and created active Board sub-committees that support fund raising, communications, enhanced nomination and selection processes, youth engagement, and governance.

A tremendous amount of work still needs to be done to achieve the vision of the Foundation – that Alberta will be a leader in exemplary environmental stewardship. This is an exciting time for AEF, and an opportunity for a new Executive Director to help shape and direct that future. If you value environmental excellence, believe that collaboration and communication between groups leads to successful partnerships; that promoting environmental attitudinal change is a worthwhile endeavor; and have the skills to lead a Foundation with integrity and credibility, then AEF may be exactly the organization for you.

This full-time renewable contract position will appeal to someone whose resum supports maximum annual compensation of $70,000 based on a 3-year employment contract. A six-month probationary period will apply.
