Call2Recycle® and the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation of Canada are inviting interested parties to review their draft Industry Stewardship Plan (ISP) for the collection and recycling of all rechargeable and non-rechargeable consumer-type batteries in Ontario.

This plan builds on 12+ year experience and infrastructure in rechargeable battery collection and recycling — results which have already realized the diversion of over 685,000 kilograms from Ontario landfills — and expands the collection and recycling service to also include non-rechargeable consumer batteries.

The organizations invite input to their draft ISP at an upcoming review meeting to be held on Thursday July 9, 2009 (1 – 4 pm) at the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre or, if you cannot attend in person, via simultaneous webcast.

To assist with the event registration, please notify the organizers of your intent to participate (either in person or via webcast) no later than 4 pm on Wednesday July 8, 2009 by either calling 1-888-224-9764 or by email: info@rbrc.ca. Post your registration, you will be sent the call-in details as well as additional specifics regarding the meeting location.

The plan is to finalize an ISP for submission to Waste Diversion Ontario at the end of July 2009. Comments are welcomed until no later than Wednesday July 22, 2009 (please send by email to info@rbrc.ca; or by mail to “Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation of Canada, P.O. Box 236, Station E, Toronto, ON M6H 4E2”.
