Nominations are now being accepted for the 2004 CRD EcoStar Awards. The awards have been given out annually since 2000 to:
— recognize local groups, organizations and individuals within the Capital Regional District who have made outstanding contributions to the protection, restoration and preservation of the environment; and
— create a legacy in the community by increasing public awareness, participation and education on environmental initiatives through the example of local role models.
Visit the CRD website (www.crd.bc.ca) for information on the ten award categories, as well as details on eligibility, the nomination process and judging considerations. Nominations are being accepted until November 15th for the Lifetime Achievement and Water Stewardship award categories. (Nominations will accepted for other categories at a later date.) Winners will be named and honoured on Friday, December 3 at the Laurel Point Inn. Award and event sponsors include: The CRD, BC Hydro, Coast Capital Savings, Terasen Gas, and the Vancouver Island News Group.
