DETAILS

On December 8, 2006, the Prime Minister along with the Ministers of the Environment and Health, unveiled Canada’s new Chemicals Management Plan (CMP) which takes immediate action to regulate chemicals that are harmful to human health or the environment.  A key element in the CMP is the collection of information on the properties and uses of the approximately 200 chemical substances identified through the categorization process as high priorities for action.

The Waste Management Sector has been identified as a possible source of release to the environment for CMP substances as several substances under the challenge are expected to be found in landfill sites.  Hear about the Environment Canada strategy to assess landfills and other waste management facilities under the CMP.

Get an up to date overview of Environment Canada’s actions and proposed strategies for the management of PCBs across the country.
