SWANA BC Chapter is pleased to announce that, with funding assistance from the province’s environment ministry, it will hold its First Annual Training Conference, May 5 to 9, 2008. The week will culminate with a special day-long Greenhouse Gas workshop: “GHG from A to Z” on Friday May 9; designed for a wider audience of managers, regulators and decision makers.
The Chapter’s great tradition of training is about to get even better. Earlier in the week training sessions, designed specifically for BC solid waste professionals, can be chosen a la carte:
oBCQLO, the BC Qualified Landfill Operator course (including examination) will be held over two days Wednesday May 7 and Thursday May 8.
oSWANA Certified MTS (Managing Transfer Station Systems) course will be held over three days Monday May 5 to Wednesday May 7.
oA Testing Centre for ANY SWANA certification (including MTS) will be held on Thursday May 8.
oThe Greenhouse Gas workshop “GHG from A to Z” promises to be the premier gathering on this topic. The day’s agenda features 14 expert speakers and will include a Ministry of Environment session presenting an Intentions Paper.
Registrants can attend one day, two days, three days, or all five! Pricing is structured to allow participants to customize the event to meet their needs and take advantage of great networking opportunities.
Registration forms for any of the components of the week are on the chapter website www.swanabc.org and electronic registrations are available through a link back to CivicInfo BC.
All sessions and workshops will take place at the renovated Harbour Towers Hotel in downtown Victoria, a block from the BC Legislature Buildings, and only 30 minutes from the airport and Swartz Bay. Special room rates for the conference have been arranged.
