The Municipal Waste Integration Network (MWIN) is pleased to announce that renowned climate change expert Ralph Torrie, the Vice President for Energy Policy and Climate Change at ICF Consulting, will be the keynote speaker at MWIN’s Annual Conference, June 12-14. Also, a talk will be delivered by the multi-faceted Bill Lishman (Father Goose) famous for imprinting a small flock of Canada Geese on himself and leading them on their southward migration using his small homemade ultralight.

The event is entitled, “Managing Change — Perspectives for Waste Management Professionals” and will be held June 12-14 at the Best Western Hotel & Conference Centre, in Cobourg, Ontario.

The other program sessions include:

industry experts discussing greenhouse gas management; carbon management and LCA of waste systems; EAA reform; regulatory and technology trends; challenges of getting to 60 per cent diversion; sustainability; and, private sector overview of source separated organics.

Richard Butts, formerly the General Manager of Solid Waste Services for the City of Toronto, will share that citys rationale for purchasing GreenLane Environmental’s landfill and how it plans to go forward.

As always, you wont want to miss Guy Crittendens ever-controversial panel. This year the topic of his session is the Re-emergence of Waste-to-Energy with panelists who are advocates on both sides of this issue.
