City of St. John’s cracks down

ST. JOHN’S, NF – Phase one of the city’s new automated garbage collection program has been in place since June 11, 2018.

The city reports that to date, more than 99 per cent of households serviced by the new system are following the program rules and regulations for the safe and effective removal of garbage.

However, the city has reminded the residents not in compliance through written notice the importance of ensuring all garbage is contained within the cart when placed at the curb.

As of July 3, 2018, the city will overfilled carts or excess garbage placed outside of the cart will not be collected.

The city thanked residents in the first phase for following the rules and regulations for automated collection and appreciates efforts made to ensure this program is a success.
