Guy Crittenden, editor of Solid Waste & Recycling magazine, has posted an entry under his Editor’s Blog soliciting ideas from environmental and waste management professionals to help formulate a complete and coordinated response to a discussion paper recently released in Ontario by its environment minister about how to move the province toward a Zero Waste future.

In November 2008, Ontario Environment Minister John Gerretsen released a discussion paper, Toward a Zero Waste Future: Review of Ontario’s Waste Diversion Act, 2002. Release of the paper triggered a 90-day comment period ending on January 15, 2009.

Crittenden’s blog entry summarizes and responds to issues raised in the paper, and describes some solutions that advocates of the Zero Waste approach might recommend. He would like to add to the list of ideas and include practical suggestions, then share these with various trade associations as well as the environment ministry.
