Andrew Horsman, Regulatory Compliance Manager for Wal-Mart Canada Corp., has invited key stakeholders to attend the first Wal-Mart Canada Sustainable Packaging Value Network (SVN) on packaging.

Writes Horsman: “The purpose of the SVN will be to work together to advance sustainable packaging solutions that support both our common business interests and drives positive environmental outcomes. The SVN will also work to bring the Wal-Mart Packaging Scorecard to Canada, revising some of the current components to reflect the Canadian realities (like recycling rates, GHGs per unit of production, etc.).

The stakeholders have been identified because of their expertise and knowledge of packaging issues. Wal-Mart hopes they will help other experts into the fold, and to help drive sustainable solutions.

The company aims to convene the first meeting within the month to begin to map out a plan going forward. The invitation-only meeting will be held at Wal-Mart Canada’s offices in Mississauga, Ontario.
