The government of British Columbia has announced a $201,920 investment to build a new recycling centre in the Central Coast Regional District.
The new Thompson Creek Waste and Recycling Centre will enable the district to prolong the life of landfills in the region by diverting a good portion of waste through a diversified recycling program.
A separate building will also be constructed to store recyclables prior to being shipped, while a multi-material baler will help prepare and transport material to be sold.
The funding is part of the Towns for Tomorrow initiative, which will be investing $21 million over three years to help small municipalities enhance their infrastructure. The province is providing 80 per cent of the funding for approved projects to a maximum contribution of $400,000.
