Starting on February 1, 2008, e-waste collection facilities in Nova Scotia will start accepting e-waste (e.g., old computers, laptops, monitors and TVs, etc.) for recycling, free of charge. Amendments to the Solid Waste Resource Management Regulations took effect on February 22, 2007; they ban the disposal of electronic waste in the province’s landfills. An expanded list of e-waste products will start being accepted a year later on February 1, 2009. At that time, the list of e-waste will include scanners, telephones, fax machines, cell phones and other wireless devices, and audio and video playback and recording systems.
