The Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo, Canada’s only trade show serving the waste, recycling and public works markets, will open its doors Wednesday, October 28 to Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The 12th edition will feature more than 130 manufacturers from Canada, China, Italy and the USA displaying the latest products and services in this billion dollar industry. Product categories will include composting systems, scrap recycling, public works, landfill operations, transfer stations, recycling equipment, trucks & heavy equipment, waste treatment, software and more. Addressing the ever-growing issue of waste management, collection and recycling, the event will attract hundreds of serious buyers from the private industry as well as the federal, provincial and municipal governments.
Held concurrently with the exposition, the Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo offers a platform for networking at industry and association events and education in its highly successful seminar program. The latest technology and legislation for the waste and recycling industry will be presented by experts and leaders from across Canada during the association sponsored seminar program. The program will contain 20 distinct educational sessions in a variety of formats that will cover a wide range of topics from compost markets, hazardous waste compliance, disposal and recycling trends to transfer stations and discussions surrounding the exportation of waste to the U.S. Sponsoring organizations include: British Columbia Environment Industry Association, Composting Council of Canada, Ontario Waste Management Association, SWANA – BC Pacific Chapter, Recycling Council of Alberta, Recycling Council of British Columbia and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
Complimenting the seminar program, the plenary session will be offered free to all Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo attendees, sponsored by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. “Getting to 50% Diversion: Success Stories from Canadian Municipalities”, will be held Wednesday, October 28 from 10:45 am – 11:30 am at the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre. Members from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities who participate on FCM’s Green Municipal Fund will discuss how can municipalities take their waste diversion efforts to the next level considering important factors such as location, size, public policy, infrastructure, and civic engagement on increasing waste diversion.
