This year, the largest annual waste and recycling exhibition in North America — Waste Expo — took place at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 21-23, 2002. Solid Waste & Recycling Publisher Arnie Gess and Associate Publisher Brad O’Brien joined more than 500 exhibitors and 5,000 attendees from the private and public sector, including waste generators from all industries as well as waste processors and equipment manufacturers.
Bruce Parker, president and CEO of Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) summed it up well when he said, “Waste Expo is like Las Vegas itself: big, busy, bright, noisy, lots of action on the floor….business and social opportunities, parties, receptions.”
EIA and other organizations hosted special educational sessions targeted at the post-911 world as well as special inspirational speaker sessions.
