Toronto’s largest waste bins often filled with recyclabes, says report

City staff are investigating a three per cent rate hike for 2016 waste collection rates

Toronto’s Solid Waste Management Services latest report to the city’s budget committee shows that 77 per cent of materials in Toronto’s extra-large waste bins shouldn’t have been in the bin in the first place.

“Maybe we just should get rid of the extra-large bins,” Coun. Janet Davis told council. “It’s very clear there’s no incentive to try and reduce the amount you put in.”
