Proposed amendments to Ontario’s Regulation 347 could have a significant impact on non-hazardous solid waste service providers. The Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA) has submitted comments under the Environmental Bill of Rights to outline concerns that include the impact to business of new TCLP testing and the resulting shift in classifications. Also, a new U.S.-style “derived from” rule would characterize a waste as “hazardous” despite processing or separation of waste components.
