The ClearStream PaperMax(tm), a clear recycling container for collection of recyclable paper and newspaper at municipal venues, is the latest innovation of Illinois-based Resourceful Bag & Tag, Inc. The company is the creator of the successful ClearStream TrashMax(tm) and ClearStream Recycler products, which already are in use by more than 1,500 cities across the United States.
According to the Paper Industry Association Council, every ton of paper that is recycled saves 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space. Governmental facilities, public schools, transportation sites, visitor centers, and public recreational facilities such as parks, beaches, campgrounds, golf courses, and pools generate an extraordinary amount of paper material in the form of booklets and handouts that often is discarded and brought to a landfill instead of being recycled. In the past, effective paper collection has been time consuming and expensive for municipalities. The use of a clear recycling container, however, not only helps achieve mandated waste reduction goals, but also reduces waste removal costs.
With the use of a clear bag and locking lid, PaperMax streamlines paper recycling and allows users to see the contents of the recycling center; this prevents confusion and consequential cross-contamination of recyclables and trash. In addition, the clear bag allows users to see the result of their participation in the municipal recycling efforts, and sets a good example for those who don’t normally recycle.
An added benefit is durability, which allows it to be reused a number of times. The clear bag even helps prevent collection crews from mistaking recyclable paper for trash and depositing it into the wrong receptacles.
Cities and counties also can incorporate the system as part of their recycling programs for special events such as fairs, carnivals, picnics, and sporting events.
Founded in 1990, Resourceful Bag & Tag, Inc. is a privately owned company specializing in supplying waste collection products to haulers and municipal customers.
