Edmonton will be where it’s at in 2000! Some of The Composting Council of Canada members from Alberta put on a big display at our recent conference to promote next year’s event.
Composting took centre stage at the 9th annual national conference of The Composting Council of Canada, held in early November in Toronto, Ontario.
The conference attracted interest from a wide variety of waste management and product utilization interests from across North America. Discussions centred on composting’s ability to complement traditional recycling programs to achieve diversion rates in excess of 50 per cent, as well as it’s proven potential to manage many environmental issues with regard to agricultural operations.
The Council led discussions on industry growth opportunities, including the expansion of product quality and marketing classifications as well as industry training opportunities and announced enhancements to current strategic working alliances with gardening and landscaping interests to increase awareness and compost utilization.
The Council’s attention now turns to gearing up for International Composting Awareness Week (April 30-May 6, 2000) with this year’s theme being, “The Future Starts Here … Compost!”
Mark your calendar now for the not-to-be-missed 10th annual conference to be held in Edmonton, Alberta from September 27-30, 2000, co-sponsored by The Composting Council of Canada, Olds College Composting Technology Centre and the City of Edmonton.
