The Composting Council of Canada Annual Show and Conference took place in Edmonton, Alberta from September 27-30. Over 300 attendees participated in the event, sponsored in part by Solid Waste & Recycling magazine. Concurrent sessions discussed how to increase waste diversion through composting and composting initiatives, processes, technologies and end products. Facility tours included TransAlta’s Edmonton Co-Composting Facility and the City of Edmonton’s Multi-Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The closing plenary featured gardening author and media personality Marc Cullen of Wheal & Cullen Nurseries. Composting Council Executive Director Susan Antler is happy to report that once again the conference and show succeeded in increasing consumer education, and awareness of product quality and application as well as opportunities available to the composting industry. Here are some snap shots of SW&R Publisher Arnie Gess with some of the exhibitors.
