On June 4 to 6, 2003, the Municipal Waste Integration Network (MWIN) held its annual conference with the theme “The Mechanics of Organics” at the Radisson Hotel in Markham, Ontario.
Workshop topics included: national tools to advance waste diversion; how to establish and run a co-collection program; Waste Diversion Ontario updates; curbing the effect of waste on climate change; public education and communication program for residential composting; household special waste management, and, much more. Special events included a golf tournament, networking dinner, and a Toronto Harbour cruise and buffet in which certain members demonstrated their musical talents and good times were had by all.
MWIN provides municipalities with a strong base of stakeholders from within the municipal waste management industry ready and willing to provide an effective voice to government. The group’s efforts help shape regulatory policy and legislation.
