Buckhorn Canada Inc. — the company that launched the blue box program for recyclables in southern Ontario in 1983 — introduces the MegaKart, a wheeled waste and recycling container for municipal, institutional and commercial applications. The mobile container comes in two sizes: 96 US gallons (360 litres) and 65 US gallons (243 litres). Engineered for a long life, MegaKart combines the economy of injection molding with such outstanding structural features as ergonomic handles and reinforced lift points.

With the trend to non-segregation of recyclables, it makes perfect sense to use a single, large, wheeled container such as this. The product promotes cost-effective collection operations and is ideal for handling general waste too.

In addition municipal programs, Buckhorn expects its new cart to enjoy popularity among institutional and commercial establishments, including:

* Hospitals and healthcare facilities, for various waste products

* Property managers, for janitorial purposes

* Fast-food franchises, for waste and recyclables

* Grocery, produce and related industries for compostables and recyclables

* Paper recyclers, shredders and other document services organizations

* General industry for all waste-related purposes

MegaKart’s overall design and textured corners make it universally compatible with fully automated and semi-automated collection systems. It comes complete with factory-installed lid and rotating metal latch bar at the front. Anti-jam stops allow the carts to be nested and stacked fully assembled, for economical shipping. As well, they can go into service quickly when they arrive, which also saves money. That’s because pre-installed factory parts permit faster onsite assembly than is possible with other carts. HDPE snap-on wheels are standard, with rubber wheels an option for more demanding applications. The containers are lockable, come in a choice of colours and may be hot-stamped for identification purposes.

Injection molding leads to high-speed production, resulting in high-volume availability at reasonably short notice. MegaKart meets all American National Standards Institute (ANSI Z245.30 and Z245.60) requirements for safety and lifter systems capability.
