According to the company, there are sound economic and environmental reasons why Buckhorn has developed MegaKart(tm), the robust, easy-to-use mobile container for waste products that comes in two sizes: 96 and 65 US gallons (360 and 243 litres).

First, it’s a well-established fact that the larger the container, the more efficient and environmentally friendly the collection of waste will be. By holding more content — whether it’s waste, recyclables or compostables — the container can be handled and emptied faster and with less effort than it takes for several small ones. In turn, fewer collection trucks are needed, which means less pollution and greenhouse gases. And the efficiencies in labor can help offset the cost of the lifting-automation required for the truck.

Next, large containers bring direct economic benefits. Now that many municipalities permit the mingling of recyclables in one container — rather than having to separate them out as paper, plastic, glass and metals — there’s the potential for higher yields. People don’t like sorting through stuff and will tend to choose the garbage residue option as being more convenient, unless they can toss all their recyclables into one large container.

Those higher yields have a monetary value. Not only does less trash reduce disposal costs, recyclable materials can emerge from recovery facilities as feedstock for the production of such objects as garden furniture, paper products and office supplies. Some facilities in Canada are now processing upward of 35 tonnes of recyclables an hour, thanks in part to the upstream implementation of a large-container program. Engineered for a long productive life, MegaKart(tm) offers structural features such as ergonomic handles and reinforced lift points. It’s ideally suited to waste collection activities relating to industries, institutions, households, and general trade.

HDPE snap-on wheels are standard, with rubber wheels an option for more demanding applications. The containers are lockable, come in a choice of colors and may be hot-stamped for identification purposes. Anti-jam stops allow the carts to be nested and stacked fully assembled, for economical shipping. As well, pre-installed factory parts permit fast onsite assembly.
