Reporting to the Director, Transportation & Public Works, the Manager, Solid Waste Resources is responsible for providing strategic direction and capable operational oversight for Halifax’s solid waste management system. As the Manager, Solid Waste Resources, you will ensure the effective integration of Halifax’s residential collection services, processing plant partnerships, diversion planning and public education programs. You will provide expertise and advice to the Executive Management Team and Council to support key municipal decisions. You will prepare and implement the annual Solid Waste business plan and steward the $50 million operating budget and $20 million capital budget. You will bring progressive leadership and will identify and introduce current technologies and best practices to Halifax’s solid waste management system.
As the ideal candidate, you are a proven strategic leader and a respected operational manager. You have a reputation for developing strong networks within and outside your organization. You bring strong technical expertise in modern solid waste management, experience leading in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment and you have managed significant contracts. An effective communicator, your strategic orientation and drive to achieve results equips you to champion the evolution of Halifax’s solid waste management system and play a key role in leading the City towards a sustainable future.
