Emterra opens second CNG fueling station in BC

A fourth CNG facility will be opened in Mississauga, Ont., later this month

VWP_0403 (1)Emterra Environmental officially opened its second state-of-the-art compressed natural gas (CNG) fuelling station in British Columbia.

Located on John Street in Victoria, the CNG fuelling station is a key part of Emterra’s new capability to provide recycling collection services to the CRD’s 13 municipalities and local businesses, with cleaner-burning, quieter-running CNG-fuelled collection trucks.

Together, the 16 new trucks and CNG fuelling station represent an $8 million investment in the CRD.

“Over the years of service these new trucks will help us cut carbon emissions in the CRD by an estimated 2,800 tonnes,” said Emmie Leung, founder and CEO of Emterra Group. “That will contribute significantly to the CRD’s and the province’s climate control targets.”

This is the third of four CNG fuelling stations that Emterra is establishing in Canada. The first opened in 2012 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Emterra opened the second in Chilliwack in May of this year, and the fourth will be opened in Mississauga, Ont., later this month.
