The regional municipalities of Durham and York have issued a request for proposals (RFP) and related technical requirements for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a waste-to-energy (WTE) facility. The RFP was issued to the five following pre-qualified proponents who are required to submit their proposals by the RFP closing date of January 15, 2009: Covanta Energy Corporation; Urbaser SA; Veolia Environmental Services Waste to Energy Inc. / AMEC/Black & McDonald; Wheelabrator Technologies Inc. (a Waste Management Company); and Green Conversion Systems LLC (Formerly: WRSI/DESC Joint Venture; Fisia Babcock Environmental GmbH, Kiewit Industrial Company, Morgan Stanley Biomass LLC, Babcock & Wilcox). Individuals who are interested in reading the RFP are invited to download a copy from the Region’s website www.region. durham. on.ca
