Venue operators and public or private organizations seek to improve or implement recycling programs in public spaces. Years of research in recycling has taught Donna Chamberlain, owner of Chevy Lane Fabrications, that one of the key elements to a successful program in public spaces is well designed, attractive, affordable containers with clear signage. Requirements for recycling vary greatly from location to location, and at this stage require innovative solutions to make efforts successful and affordable.

In the fall of 2006, Chevy Lane introduced new portable special event and venue solutions and wall mount stations for schools and public buildings. 2007 will bring the addition of residential solutions to their products.

Chamberlain believes that recycling containers need to be designed with many factors in mind. In order for a program to be effective, there needs to be a cooperative effort that takes into consideration existing equipment, manpower, budget, preexisting waste containers, local recycling facilities, appearance and location.
