At the Recycling Council of Ontario’s 20th Annual Conference and Trade Show (October 5-7), Ontario Minister of Environment Tony Clement confirmed his support for Ontario’s new Waste Diversion Organization (WDO). “We need the Waste Diversion Organization,” Minister Clement told delegates, “and I’m here to say it will happen.” The Minister noted that the convergence of three trends — homegrown technological expertise, public demand and an urgency for governments to take action on difficult issues — provide a significant opportunity for resource conservation and environmental protection. He stressed the need for ongoing partnerships to tackle the environmental challenges.
